 Łódź (Litzmannstadt) Jewish Ghetto

Mail censors provided by the Jewish Council performed their service for the Nazis, perhaps even more strictly than the Germans themselves might have done.

A Łódź ghetto censor passed the January 7, 1941, registered postal card addressed to Epshiki, Russia, was censored by Germany at Berlin, and transited Moscow en route to its destination.

Berlin censoring is unusual; ordinarily it would have been examined at Königsberg next >>
