THE TRAGEDY OF LIFE


On the back of the postcard, the following is written:
Top center, in Russian: Open Letter

On the right side, in Hebrew:
"To the beautiful lady (Mrs.) Kajman, Sheinke Brostin, Grajewo
(dated) April 23, 1919"

On the left side, in Hebrew:
"For eternal memory, for Szejna Kajman."

Diagonally at the bottom:
Line 1: "The world is a dream."
Line 2 (unclear): "I start with God's rest."

This was one of two postcards sent to Szjena by Sheina Brostin on the date above.

Translation of the back of the picture postcard:

In the right corner diagonally: "Vilno -- Szczuczyn."

Under it on the left, in Hebrew and Yiddish:
"In friendship to Szejna Kajman
From a friend (female)
Zviah Kalisher"

On left side:
"Vilno, January 15, 1920"

In Yiddish:
"For eternal memory and good memories
I gift to you this photograph
Zviah Kalisher"

 

Translation of handwritten Hebrew text on back of card:

On the left: date, "July 14, 1920."

On the right: "Here I (m.) give this picture to my respected friend (f), at the time of our separation because of her travel to America,
