"I decided
to devote my life to telling the story because I felt
that having survived I owe something to the dead…. and
anyone who does not remember betrays them again."
-Elie Wiesel
The Museum welcomes all those who wish to contribute
their own photographs of memorials that are not
represented in any of the above exhibitions. Please
e-mail them as jpegs with a short description of the
photo such as town, location (e.g. cemetery, synagogue),
and if possible a translation of any inscription on the
monument. Also needed are volunteers to translate the
Hebrew, Yiddish, Polish and Russian words that have been
inscribed into these memorials, that do not already
appear with the exhibition memorial photo. Please send
the photos or contact the Museum if needed at
postmaster@museumoffamilyhistory.com.
It is the
mission of the Museum of Family History to honor and preserve the memory
of our ancestors, their culture and way of life. It is hoped that
the presentation of this material relating specifically to the
Holocaust will make some sort of contribution in some small but perceptible
way to our collective consciousness; that these
photographs and the precious messages inscribed onto
them will remind us of how important it is to remember
all who perished during these terrible times. |
