"Churbn Lettland: Die
Vernichtung Der Juden Lettlands" ("Chorban Lettland: The Destruction
of the Jews of Lettland") by Max Kaufmann, was published by the
author in Munich,
Germany in July 1947 under the auspices
of the American military government - GEC-AGO, Eucom (European Command). It records the history of the German annihilation of the Jewish
community in Latvia.
"Churbn Lettland..." is 542 pages in length, with a few
photographs. It was mainly written in German with a few portions in
English and Yiddish (transliterated with Hebrew letters). "Churbn
Lettland" is a rare accounting of Holocaust history, not long after the
end of the war.
