Author Max Kaufmann

"Churbn Lettland: Die Vernichtung Der Juden Lettlands" ("Chorban Lettland: The Destruction of the Jews of Lettland") by Max Kaufmann, was published by the author in Munich, Germany in July 1947 under the auspices of the American military government - GEC-AGO, Eucom (European Command). It records the history of the German annihilation of the Jewish community in Latvia.

"Churbn Lettland..." is 542 pages in length, with a few photographs. It was mainly written in German with a few portions in English and Yiddish (transliterated with Hebrew letters). "Churbn Lettland" is a rare accounting of Holocaust history, not long after the end of the war.

The Museum of Family History provides you with the English translation of this book.

Also one may read a text-only French translation of specific excerpts (as it becomes available).
