Moshe Nelken
 


 

Born in 1901 in Lodz, Poland.

He completed the Hebrew-Polish gymnasium of Dr. Brody.

For a time he studied in the Warsaw university and in a dramatic school. He was active in the Left youth movement.

In 1927 he was one of the co-founders of  Moshe Broderzon's small art theatre "Ararat," where he participated in as an actor, singer and konferensye.

N. debuted in 1923-1924 with songs in prose in the collection "Toyz royt," afterwards in various periodical editions. For a time he also was a teacher in the Barakhov school and in modern cheders in Lodz.

In 1940 he advanced in the Lodz ghetto and here worked in the Yiddish ghetto theatre, and he was also a teacher there in the law school and led a course in seminar for the "Yidish-kentnish" and also the teacher's courses.

In August 1944, during the liquidation of the Lodz ghetto, he was deported to Auschwitz and there he perished at the hands of the Nazis.
