Maurice Schwartz and the Yiddish Art Theatre

Production Scenes

Maurice Schwartz and the actors of his Yiddish Art Theatre, in its more than thirty years of existence, performed in more than one hundred and eighty different plays. Always striving to choose a high quality production, Schwartz's troupes acted in plays written by such Jewish playwrights as Sholom Aleichem, Abraham Goldfaden, Sholem Asch, Peretz Hirshbein, Jacob Gordin and David Pinski, as well as non-Jewish writers such as Maxim Gorki, Leonid Andreyev, Oscar Wilde, Shakespeare, Molière and George Bernard Shaw.
