LEJBUS HIRSCH ZVI ZYLBERMAN AND HIS DAUGHTER RUCHELE

Lejbus Hirsch Zvi was born in Kock, Poland in 1833, and was the son of Chaim and Scheindel Szibrnik (Zylberman.) He resided in Lodz until 1890, then move to Zawiercie. He was an ardent Zionist, and he represented  Zawiercie in the sixth Zionist Congress in Basel in 1903. He also built the synagogue in Zawiercie and passed away there in 1908.

Ruchel/Ruchele Zylberman was born in Lodz in 1875 to Lejbus Hirsch Zvi and his wife Tauba (nee Biszke) Szibrnik (Zylberman.) Eventually she moved with her family to Zawiercie. She married Szlama Aron Meryn in 1893. The Meryn family subsequently moved to Chemnitz, Germany in 1910. They had six children: Mordechai Dov (who passed away in 1942), Abraham Izaak, Acher (died in Auschwitz in 1943), Sara Rivka, Shimshon, and Roza. Ruchele perished in Aug 1943 at Auschwitz.
