Before the devastation of World War II, for centuries in fact, the area that surrounds Białystok's Biala River was very active. Before 1939, the simple and perhaps primitive promenades and boulevards that lined the river and its surrounds brought people very close to the river. Today the people are no longer close to the river, which sadly is dirty and unappealing. Through the use of a series of photographs, Tomek visually tries to show his audience the contrasting views of the river area both before World War II and today. |
