THE BOSPHORUS
Constantinople, Turkey

The Bosphorus is a strait, a body of water that separates the two parts of  Constantinople
(not named Istanbul until 1930), one side part of the Asian Continent, the other part of the European continent.

"Quaint sailing vessels in the Bosphorus, outside Constantinopole Harbour.  In the background can be seen the city, with its numerous Mosques and Minarets."

FOUNTAIN OF AHMET III
Constantinople, Turkey

This edifice was built in 1768 for Sultan Ahmet III and stands at the main gate to the Topkapi Palace.
