Karl Burovik
(Betsalel)

 

B. was born in July 1873 in Dvinsk, Latvia.

His grandfather, a scholar, had the qualifications to be a rabbi.

He learned in a gymnasium in Warsaw, and for three years at a philosophic facultat in Zurich.

Later he came to America, where here he was an executive member in the "Bund". He published songs in various periodical issues, and afterwards went off to Mexico where he published: "Di mkhshfut", a fantasy drama in five acts, Mexico, 1927 [p. 60, 16°], "Berlzon un shmerlzon in meksiko", a comedy in one act, [Mexico 1929, p. 22, 16°], and "Meyzel der shadkhan" or "Gekoylet on a meser", a tragi-comedy in three acts, Mexico, 1929, [p. 43, 16°]
