1931-1969
 

Clara Desser
(Keyla Toyba)
 

Born in 1892 in Gzhibi, Galicia.

Her father was a merchant, and her mother a retailer who sold pearls.

Her brother was a musician.

After her marriage in 1905 to Joseph Desser, she became a singer and took part in Yiddish variety productions.

D. used to travel around with her own troupes, benefiting from a franchise that her husband had had with the Yiddish theatre.

During the Second World War she was killed by the Nazis in Lemberg.
