Yakov Glikman

 

G. was born in October 1863 in Bucharest, Rumania.

His parents were Sephardic Jews from Bulgaria.

He learned in a yeshiva, also [khul] courses. He knew German, Yiddish and Rumanian well. His nature was a bit Bohemian, and then in 1882 he worked for Goldfaden in Bucharest as a prompter. He also used to study actors' roles part-time, and as such only became a regisseur.

Until the time, when Mogulesko went to America, he was together with him. Later he created a management (a partnership with Axelrad) having in the troupe his children and in-laws.

He passed away in 1918 in Tiraspol, Ukraine.
