G. was born circa 1888 in London, where he completed public school.

At the age of nineteen, he brought his sister Esther Wallerstein to South Africa as a manager of his troupe.

After his travels to South Africa, G. became the publicity manager for the South Africa Theatre Trust, and he managed across the Yiddish troupes, which the Trust had brought over as guest-stars to South Africa.
