1931-1969
 

Saltshe Gutman
(Serl Harman)

 

G. was born on 5 March 1881 in Lemberg, Eastern Galicia.

Her parents were merchants.

She finished a seven-class folkshul.

In 1897 she performed in the chorus of Gimpel's troupe, and after a short time began to act in soubrette roles.

G. married actor and director Julius Gutman and followed the same path as her husband, acting in mother and grand dame roles.

During the Second World War she was captured by the German invaders and was killed at the hands of the Nazis.
