Moshe Khashkes
 

 

Kh. was born in 1830 in Vilna (in Birov?), Polish Lithuania.

He learned in various yeshivas, while at the same time also receiving an education and learning further in the Zhitomir rabbinical school.

In 1869 he began to publish books in Hebrew, and since 1871 has also finished songs in Yiddish.

Kh. also composed in Russian "Der yidisher litvak -- yohan shvabski," a drama in five acts (3 August 1897), and also in Yiddish the drama "Abarbanal."
