SHORT BIOGRAPHIES OF THOSE INVOLVED IN
THE Yiddish THEATRE
aS DESCRIBED IN zALMEN zYLBERCWEIG'S "lEKSIKON FUN YIDISHN TEATER"
L. was born in 1900 in Kreshnevits, Poland. Her parents
were in business.
From childhood on she was
very much interested in literature.
As a child of eleven she
wrote a play in Polish and she performed with children.
L. read foreign languages a great deal and in 1915 wrote
a drama "Eyngefalene vert".
After a trip across
Switzerland, she arrived in 1921 to the Soviet Union, where
she settled and debuted in 1925 with a story in "Yungvald".
In 1923 in Moscow there was
published together with two stories L.'s drama "Velt-vinkl".
