Esther Moshkovitsh
(Gelibter, Gotlieb)

Born on 15 August 1895 in Lodz, Poland, into a loving family. Her father was a teacher and her mother was a housewife and merchant, with a beautiful voice who considered the theatre. However, with a strong, secretive father and with little watching from the mother, she, under Gotlieb, entered the chorus of the Lodz "Grand Theatre" together with the late actress Chana Lerner.

After she went over to Kompaneyets and later began acting with several provincial troupes.

She got married to actor Yakov Moshkovitsh and came in 1919 to Berlin, Germany, where she acted with local troupes (Dovid, Moshe and A. Zeyderman), Chana Lerner, Pinchas Lawenda, Ester Feldman et al.), also with guest-star actors in Berlin and across other German cities.

When Hitler came to power in 1933, she escaped with her husband  to Paris where they acted until they were killed during the Second World War.

In 1942 the Nazis had deported her together with their son Abram (born 1 December 1921), and from then on there was nary a sign of them.

Sh. E. from Yakov Moshkovitsh.
