According to Bina Abramowitz, that as the chorus in Yiddish theatre in New York was on a cooperative basis with the actors, S. was a member in the chorus. Later S. became a prima donna in the Rumanian Opera House.

Although S. was lame in the leg, she was however very popular as a prima donna due to her great voice, and she was called "Di khuznte".
