SHORT BIOGRAPHIES OF THOSE INVOLVED IN
THE Yiddish THEATRE
aS DESCRIBED IN zALMEN zYLBERCWEIG'S "lEKSIKON FUN YIDISHN TEATER"
Born in 1901 in Klintsy, Chernigov
Gubernia, Ukraine. Her parents were merchants with secular opinions,
having hrt receive a modern education. Due to this, her father
became sent to Atshinsk (Siberia), traveling therein with the
entire family, and there S. attended the middle gymnasium, which she
completed in 1918.
On the initiative of [tsunoyfgenforene]
Yiddish soldiers in Atshinsk, she found a legal literary dramatic
circle, in which S. participated in the productions.
In 1921 she attended in Moscow the
Russian dramatic school with the Moscow Kleines Theatre under the
name of Yermolov.
In 1927 she joined the Bialystok revue
theatre "Gilh rinh". In 1928 she participated in "Azazel", then in a
range of dramas in operetta troupes, and since 1931 she has been in
the Vilna Yiddish theatre.
