Yehoshue Tufman
 

 

T. was born on 15 August 1893 in Amshinov, Poland. His grandfather was a wool merchant and a badkhan (comedian), who used to write his own "things" and played the violin. His father was a ritual slaughterer and a cantor, with whom T. was a choirboy.

He learned in cheders, with a rabbi and in the Beit HaMedrash.
