W. was born in 1880 in Plotsk, Poland.
In all he wandered across
Western Galicia, America, India, and other lands.
Since after the First World
War, he lived in Warsaw, where he was working as a
teacher of English . Besides articles in various Yiddish
journals, he had, as an active Communist, together with
Alter Katsizne, edited in 1921 "Glokn" ("document of art
and thanks in the new world message") and alone edited
and issued the journal "Arbeter kultur un kunst"
(Warsaw, December 1922), for which he put out one
volume.
W. had in 1921 issued in
Warsaw a book "The Theatre and the Socialist" (p. 180,
plus a ten-page introduction), in which he attempted to
treat the
theatre problem from a historical-materialistic
position. Besides many historical material he also
brought into the book his own assumptions about the
modernist and expressionist in literature, film, etc.
In 1939-40 W. was found in
Bialystok under the Soviet Occupation. Ideologically an
[antoyshter], he refused to accept citizenship, and he
returned to Warsaw, where he was killed during the Nazi
Occupation.
