1931-1969
 

Milton Weintraub

 

W. was born on 24 November 1897 in New York, America.

His parents were the Yiddish actors Zigmunt and Rivka Weintraub {"Lexicon of the Yiddish Theatre", Vol. I, pp. 685-87).

He began his theatre activity as a cashier in his uncle's Liberty Theatre in Brooklyn, then in other Yiddish theatres, where he also was manger, and when Maurice Schwartz had directed the Al Jolson Theatre, he was manager there.

Being very active in the union of cashiers and publicity people, he later assumed the role as secretary-treasurer, and in that post remained until his last days.

W. was a member in the Executive (Committee) of the Yiddish Theatrical Alliance.

On 17 November 1968 W. passed away in New York and was taken to his eternal rest in the cemetery (plot) of the Yiddish Theatrical Alliance.

W.'s sister, Frances, is a Yiddish-English actress and is married to Yiddish-English actor Abraham Lax.
