Jennie Zeltser

 

Z. was born on 16 September 1906 in Iasi, Rumania.

Her parents were actors, who later went across Bucharest, where Z. completed a four-class primary school, and two classes of gymnasium.

At the age of four, she began to act in children's roles with Adolf Segal, and from age six to eleven she acted in children's roles with Itsikl Goldenberg. Afterwards she went over to episodic roles for adults. 

She acted in 1918 for Clara Young in Constantinople, afterwards a season in Romania., a season with Ziegler, three months in revues with Kaner, a year-and-a-half with Rachel Axelrad in Czernowitz, later in the German small-theatre stage "Coliseum", six months with Kanapov in Bucharest, a season in the Yiddish operetta with Ettinger, a summer season in a Rumanian revue and a winter season in the Yiddish drama with Lidia Potocka, a short time with Kompaneyets' Yiddish operetta troupe, and again back to the Rumanian revues.

Z. also participated in a tour with the Rumanian operetta.

In the winter of 1928 Z. acted in the Yiddish theatre, and in the summer of 1928 she was in the troupe of Ettinger-Segal.
