Israel Treistman
 

 

Israeli born, in Afula. He is a graduate of the Nisan Nativ Acting Studio and the Uta Hagen Studio of New York.

Israel has performed in the Habima Theatre, the Jerusalem Khan, the Cameri, and in the Children and Youth Theatre. During 1985, he took part as guest actor in the play "Ghetto" by Yehoshua Sobol, which was performed in Vienna. He took part in several musicals, among them, "Les Miserables," "The King and I," and "Evita."

A performer at the Yiddishspiel Theatre since 1989, he has taken part in most of its productions. He has initiated and acted in "Lechayei Hachaim," a play dealing with the activities of the Jewish cabaret in the heart of the Theresienstadt ghetto. The play received prizes at the 1998 Acre Festival.

During his artistic career, Israel Treistman presented a solo performance in Yiddish. He took part in television series, dramas, and advertisements. Among his many roles in Yiddishspiel, he played the role of Dr. Zygmunt in "Children From the Shadow," receiving excellent critiques.
