The Goldfaden Theatre in Czernowitz

From Marcel Spiegler:
"The poster is from the Jewish theater Goldfaden from the early thirties. The entrance fee was only ten lei (Romanian currency). In the late thirties, it went up to twenty lei.

The Goldfaden theater belonged to my uncle Max Reisch. For many years it was an indoor theatre in the Rusische Gasse until it burned down. He then opened up the covered outdoor theatre which was active until 1940 .In the winter it was used as the entrance to the ice skating rink."

In the above performance, the Jewish actor Sidy Thal is acting in an operetta entitled "Dwoires Chassene."
