'civico no. 16' on this way (street) stood the synagogue of
the ghetto. In 1593 the Jews were expelled and with them the
"retaggio" of the rabbis Samuel Archivolti, Azaria of Rossi,
Yaakov Mantino, Obadia Sforno. The racial laws of 1938
created a new ghetto from which, despite the solidarity of
the city, eighty-three Jews, with others from far away, were
