Death and Remembrance

Bialystok, Poland
September 1939

Solomon and Ester Rabinovitch at the gravesite of Riveh Reichil Glogowsky

Solomon Rabinovitch was the builder of the Great Synagogue of Bialystok. He and his wife Ester, nee Glogowsky, visited the cemetery in Bialystok to pay their respects to the gravesite of Ester's mother Rivka Rachel Glogowsky who passed away in 1920.

What is more unusual about this photo is the day that it was taken, just one day before the Germans marched into Bialystok.

Neither Solomon or Ester survived the war.
