Chana Robina is considered to be the original "First Lady of Hebrew Theatre" and was born cir 1890 in Berezin, Minsk district. She joined Habima in 1917. Her role as Leah'le, the young bride who is possessed by a demon in "The Dybbuk" by S. Ansky, made her famous.
 
The Habima Theater has its roots in Moscow, Russia. Founded by Nahum Zemach, they first found fame in producing Ansky's "The Dybbuk," made most popular by the Vilna Troupe.  In 1931, the company moved to pre-state Israel where they eventually became the National Theater of Israel.
