To my loveable grandchildren and their dear
parents
Nechemia dear, you seem to have forgotten
your grandpa and grandma. You don't come to see us, you don't
write to us. You have promised your grandma that you will write to
her to come to visit you. She has been waiting a long time.
Dear Nechemia, I'm sending you a present - a
siddur [daily prayer book]. Do pray with it well. Write to me when
you have mastered the prayers and I will send you the five books of the
Chumash [the Old
Testament]. May you be well and study from them. For little
Moishele I'm sending sweets. The siddur is now being printed. God willing, maybe I will have the
privilege of giving it to you personally. May your parents bring
you up to torah, chuppah [the Jewish wedding canopy] and good
deeds.
Nechemia do come for a short visit. You will
go with Nison into the fields to collect flowers and then you will
return and take Buba [grandmother] with you. Sure, sure you are
going to come. But of course, it is all a dream. Be well in
Australia. Please God your father should do well in business and
be in a position to give you a good education.
Best wishes to you all,
Zev Kayman
There is little I can report about us. We
did not have anything before and there is nothing now... We are
well. I liquidated my business and intend after the holydays to go
away for a vacation, provided the weather gets a bit warmer. So
far it is still cool and I'm not sure where it would be warmer.
Dear Eliezer, why do you write so sparingly?
It takes about ten weeks between one letter and the next. Write
more about how you are doing. Are you at least in good health and
do you make a living? Feiga suggested a cheap holiday but the
weather is still too cool. No other news. The currency can be
stretched out.
All
the best to you all.
