"The
Ritz family was mostly cousins and nieces and nephews of my mother Anna
Boksner. David Ritz was the patriarch of the whole family, and I named
my first son David in respect for this wonderful person. My father in
later years corresponded with his mother, and while he was studying for
his bar mitzvah, learned to write Yiddish, and then sent her a letter
and received a reply."
