Terez Nagy married in Balassagyarmat to Erno Braun and had one
daughter, Marta. Both Terez and Erno passed away in the early forties
and Marta was brought up by her beloved grandmother, Miriam.
During the war, Marta escaped to Budapest and promised her
grandmother that she would visit her every weekend. In the summer of
1944, one weekend when Marta returned to Balassagyarmat, she found her
town empty of Jews. Her grandmother was deported with all the Jewish
community of Balassagyarmat to Auschwitz, and even the family jewelry
hidden under the tree in Miriam's backyard were missing.
Martha survived the war and married Hugo Tessler in Budapest and had
two daughters. In 1956, they fled to London, England where they lived
happily after.
