Sofia Apteiker
(Sarah Fraynd)
 

 

Born on 27 July 1885 in Hrubieszow, Poland.

Her father was a bar owner.

At the age of fifteen she came to Lodz and in 1907 performed in Czestochowa in the cooperative troupe led by Bordo and Antovil, afterwards going to act in Konotop, Kiev Gubernia. 

In 1909 she performed across Poland with a cooperative troupe.

From 1911-15 she went across Poland with Kuperman's troupe.

In 1915 she acted in the Lodz Thalia and Grand Theatres under the direction of M. D. Vaksman and afterwards across the province.

In 1920 she came to America and here participated in various troupes across the province.

From 1928-30 she stood at the top of the "European Cooperative [non-union] Troupe" in New York.

Specialty: Mother roles.
