David Blumental


According to Jacob P. Adler, B. was a Herculean figure.

At first he was a badkhan (comedian), thereafter a folk singer, and he acted in Yiddish theatre for Naftali Goldfaden, afterwards for Avraham Goldfaden and lastly for Fishzon.

B. used to act in character-comical roles and when needed also as "mothers".

B. by himself had also directed small iterant troupes.

B. passed away in Yekaterinoslav of hand poisoning.
