Dora Chizhik

Born circa 1869 in Riga, Latvia.

At the age of twenty she arrived in Hull (England) and performed in the local Yiddish theatre (Director -- H. Feinberg).

Several years later she came to Manchester with actor Yosl Chizhik and married him, and she went around with him, acting in Yiddish theatre across the great cities of the province of England.

She returned to London and Ch. toured with the Yiddish Pavilion Theatre where she acted for several seasons, having the opportunity to act with the Adlers. Later she acted with the troupes of
Morris Moshkovitsh.

In her younger years, Ch. acted in soubrette roles; later she performed in mother roles.

Since 1922 Ch., due to a sickness, has retired from the stage.
