Born in 1877 in Skala, by Zbarazh (Zbaraż), Galicia.

He was the older brother of actor Charlie Cohen.

In 1885 C. came with the family to America. He worked in a shop for nipents [children's houses], and at the same time became a member in "David Kessler's Dramatic Club".

Possessing a beautiful voice, he performed there as "Bartelo" in Sharkansky's "Kol Nidre". His success had him listed in the Yiddish vaudeville theatres. He became an actor member in Local 5, and he played several years in the Yiddish vaudeville houses.

K. also was the first to perform the role "Chatzke" in Leon Kobrin's "Yankel Boyle" in the Odeon Theatre.

K. went later across to play in the legitimate Yiddish theatre, and he went across the American province to act with the famous Yiddish players.

On 28 August 1953, K. died in New York and came to his eternal rest in the family cemetery plot at Mount Hebron Cemetery (in Flushing, New York --ed.)
