1931-1969
 

Volf Demont

Born circa 1830 in Tarnopol, Galicia, into a poor family.

He grew up in the environment of Yosef Perl and with a great persistence became educated.

For six years he was teacher in the Yosef Perl School in Tarnopol. Afterwards he was invited to Brody, where he was in the local Yiddish school, forty-two years a teacher of Polish, calligraphy, drawing and singing.

D. wrote, [derhoypt] songs in German, Hebrew, Polish and especially love songs in Yiddish.

D. is the composer of the comedy "Der khl-bunik".
