D. was born on 25 November
1900 in Checiny, Kielce Gubernia, Poland. He was raised
in a village, where he learned with his parents' brother
and in the Dorfisher school, for ten years in Kielce. He
worked as a sign painter. At the beginning of the war he
went away with a worker's transport to Southern Tirol,
where he worked for a half-year, then a year-and-a-half
in a Vienna factory of wagons and locomotives. At the
end of the World War he returned to Kielce, where he
took an active part in the Poalei Zion movement, later in
Warsaw he participated in his organ "Fraye yugend". In
1920 due to the political environment, he went away to
Vienna, where he went off with his own culture[?],
edited for a certain time with "Di yidishe morgenpost"
and corresponded in America and in the Warsaw "Moment"
under he pseudonym of Sh. Y. Dorfzon.
In 1924 D. issued in Vienna
a weekly page "Di naye tsayt" in which he published a
series of articles about the history of Yiddish theatre
in Vienna, in March-April 1925 he published in the "Nayer
lodzer folksblat" five articles under the name of "Dos
yidishe teater in chechien" (material about the history
of the Yiddish theatre in Western Europe), in 1926 in a
Purim edition "Moment" -- "Purim bay di karpatn-yidn",
where he portrays their Purim-shpiels.
D. often writes articles and
reviews about Yiddish theatre and is connected with
Yiddish Vienna theatre as a prompter and manager.
