In March of 1887 with Adler and with some partners he opened the Madison Street Theatre in Chicago, where Alder put on "Uriel Acosta", "Doctor Almasada" and "Meshuganah oys libe (Crazy in Love)".

Later D. was for some years manager of the Yiddish theatre.
