1931-1967
 

Jacob Greenberg

 

Born circa 1875 in Otik (Ataki), Bessarabia. 

His father was a grain merchant.

G. studied at a cheder and a yeshiva. He arrived in America in 1881 and became a fur cutter who, in the evenings, participated with the New York’s Yiddish Drama Club.

In 1902 Joseph Jacobson engaged him in his troupe in St. Louis, Chicago and its surroundings and Canada.

G. was given roles of father and character roles and was a good singer

He suffered from diabetes which developed into ??? and cancer.

On 30 July 1923 G. passed away at Montefiore Hospital in New York. He was buried at the Yiddish Theatrical Alliance Cemetery.
