Grinberg was born in 1860 in Wegrów, Siedlce kreyz, Poland.

Until age fifteen he learned in a cheder, then three years in a Beit haMedrash.

Already as a youth , Grinberg was expelled as an [opshpeter] and a strength-maker(?) and with his "shtiklekh" was known in the villages known as "Chaim Tsalke". Due to persecution by the village belibatim G. had to leave Wegrów and go away to Warsaw, where he came to "his brother". Later he may have gone away to Galicia.

Grinberg published two books, which were -- according to Zalmen Reisen -- "Mustern fun der folks-satire, mit a gutmutikn, groblekhn khumor, geshribn in a zaftiker ekhter folksshprakh, mit parshoynen fun shtetl als heldn, zeynen geven bshetm zeyer popular nit nor in vengrow, nor oykh in poyln".
