1931-1967
 

Hersh Hart

Born on 7 May 1897 in Rawa-Ruska, Galicia.

His father was a businessman.

H. completed a middle school in Lemberg and for three years was in the higher trades--and expert-academy.

At first he acted with "amateurs" in Lemberg.

In 1919 he began to act professionally with Gimpel in Lemberg, and after that also in the province with the troupe of his brother Ber Hart, a long time in the Krakow Yiddish Theatre, and with the Kompaneyets troupe.

In 1924-5 together with Shlomo Pryzament he led a troupe across the Galician provinces, where he put on in 1925 Peretz's "In Polish oyf der keyt" and Asch's "Toyter mentsh." In 1925 he was co-composer (with Adventovitsh) of the Polish production of Anski's "Dybbuk."

In 1926 he acted in Lemberg's Yiddish theatre, and afterwards participated in a tour of "Vi"kt" across Romania. Later there he acted with Lidia Potocka.
