Born on 31 May 1904 in New York, America.

Her parents are the actors Kalmen Juvelier and Yetta Roich.

She learned in public school, high school and took three semesters of bacteriology in college. On her own she learned to read and write Yiddish.

After being in high school, J. performed for four months, reading dramatic roles in English in Greenwich Village (in groups of one and three actors), and first in 1925 against her father's wishes, she began acting in Yiddish in California in Jacob Goldstein's troupe. A season later, J. acted in Brooklyn's Lyric Theatre and became a member of the [Hebrew Actors'] Union.

In 1926-8 she acted in Boston with Hollander. In 1928-9 she was with Abraham Littman and Sam Auerbach in Detroit. In 1928-30 she was with Sam Auerbach and Misha Fiszon in Brooklyn's Lyric Theatre.

In 1930-31 she was in Philadelphia with Sam Auerbach. In 1931-32, she was in Chicago's Lawndale Theatre.
