1931-1969
 

Suzi Kasten


T. was born in Balta, Southern Russia, now Ukraine. Her father was the Kazianer rabbi.

As a child of six she came with her parents to America, where he completed a folkshul.

Possessing a voice for singing, she entered into the chorus of a Yiddish theatre in Philadelphia under the direction of Gartenstein.

After her marriage to actor Sam Kasten, she became a Yiddish actress, and until she had retired in the beginning of her thirtieth year, she followed the same path to the stage as he did.

K. passed away on 8 September 1944 in Philadelphia. Her children Louie and Freddie were administrators and were associated with the Yiddish theatre and later with the English theatre.

Her daughter Lili has acted in Yiddish theatre.
