B. Gorin writes in his history of the Yiddish theatre:

"That (I. Y. Lerner had gevondn tsu Shomer-Shaikewitz, that he dramatized his novel for his troupe) Shaikewitz had submitted an idea that he should become an entrepreneur by himself.2. No actor is currently involved with any actor where there is no place to play has ever been made of any actor, and a place to play has been found in every city.

The topic was the play, and a composer, who had seen to put together a small repertoire, had easily been able to become a director. Shomer had put together a company, which consisted of ... Kneler."
