1931-1969
 

Herman Laster

 

L. was born in Stetsov, Galicia. He learned in a cheder and in the Baron Hirsch folkshul in Horodenka and also with a private tutor.

From 1915-18 he was evacuated with his family to Behmen, where he learned further. In 1918 he returned and became a grenets merchant. In 1923 he was an active member in the Galicia landsmanshaft union, co-founder there of a culture commission and a dramatic circle, where he debuted as "Chaim-Leib" in Sholem Aleichem's "A Doctor", then he performed in other one-acters, and he participated in other drama circles.

Later he was a co-founder of the "Yung argentine (Young Argentina)" drama school, where he also participated in the tour across the Argentinean province during the guest appearance of Jacob Ben-Ami and Jacob Mestel.
