L. was born on 14 September 1888 in Karitshin, Bialystok region.

His father was a phonogramer(?) for books.

He learned in a cheder and yeshiva and also privately general studies. Under the effect of the story books, which he used to read during the times his father used to come home for Shabbat, he tried at the age of eleven to write a story about robbers. Later he wrote figuratively(?), stories and songs.

In 1910 he debuted with a small story in "Leben un visenshaft", then published stories and a novel in various other periodical editions.

In 1921 in Bialystok there was published L.'s "Familyen-leyun, a drama in 3 acts with an epilogue" [p. 55, 16°], and "Di nkmh, a drama in 3 acts" [p. 47, 16°], which were staged by "amateurs" in Bialystok, where L. worked as a [farber] for [poyerishe oysarbetungen].
