Menukha Libert

L. was born in 1892 in Odessa, Ukraine. She learned in a gymnasium, and as a child often attended the theatre and fantasized about becoming an actress. Because of this, she later went away to attend the dramatic evening course of the actress Morskoi.

In 1909 she became known to the actor Jacob Libert, with whom she married, and she found in this way a greater access to the Yiddish stage, where she began to act as a soubrette and later in character roles, following the same stage path as her husband.
