Yoel Mastboym


M. was born in 1882 in Mezritsh, Poland. His father was an owner of a glass-[hute] in Tsigelnya.

He learned in a cheder with a half-enlightened teacher. From his youth he manifested an aspiration to paint, act and write. At age fifteen he became a house painter. He took an active part in the revolutionary movement of 1905, and debuted with a story in "Veg" (1906), and since then has published more works.

In 1917 M. has published a dramatic poem in one act "Ohn a melodye" (publisher A. Gitlin, Warsaw).
