Born on 17 September 1897 in Warsaw, Poland. Her father was an art painter. She completed a middle school. Still very young she already used to act with "amateurs" and in 1918, being in Moscow, she entered into a local dramatic studio. On 15 January 1921 she became a member in "Mim't", and on 24 September 1921 she debuted in a Sholem Aleichem evening.

Since then M. has remained with the local theatre and also has participated in European tours.

At the end of 1932 she was invited by Meyerkhold to act (in Yiddish) in the role of "Froy bek" in the Russian play "Di khtunah fun kretshinsky".
