Amalia Mogulesko

M. was born about 1860 in Iasi, Romania.

Her father was a cutter (of garments).

She studied in a primary school and was married at an early age to the actor Sigmund Mogulesko. She took part in the performance of Goldfaden’s “Grandmother with Grandson” (“The Teacher”), and also played in “Flaterbursh” (“Student”) and in “Perikola”.

M. immigrated to America with her husband, where she rarely had a role in the theatre.

Since the death of her husband, a special performance took place in a New York Yiddish theatre on the anniversary of his death, with the proceeds going to the widow.

M. died in New York in 1929. Her daughter Bessie performs in the Yiddish theatre. Her sister Paulina is a former Yiddish actress and the wife of theater director Joseph Edelstein.
